UPDATE FROM THE PRES
Last Friday night the Moddies played away except for the two U8s teams who played each other at Bridgewater. As usual, all teams put in solid performances with 2 wins from the 4 games. Some of the games at this time of year are freezing cold so well done to everyone involved for supporting this critical part of our club....
On Saturday we played at Callington in great conditions. The mini colts, junior Colts and B grade all battled hard but were beaten by stronger opposition. Well done to Ben Taylor-Masson who played his first game for the mini colts (see photo). The highlight in the B grade was the appearance of Matt Bissell playing alongside his son Lachlan who filled in from the U16 team. Matt hasn’t played for years but did manage to get a handball out to Lachie. Great stuff. Thanks once again to everyone who put their hand up to play in the B grade.
The A grade had a solid win against Kangarilla and moved the ball well on the big dry oval. It was an entertaining game and Dan the scoreboard man was happy to have his beloved honey logs back in the canteen again (check out the Courier article below and well done Tania!). A highlight was Will Hyndman’s first A grade goal and being named Raider of the week (See photos). With 3 games to go let’s hope the A grade can finish off the season well and make it into the finals.
The women’s team had a tough day out against Ironbank who are the top team. However they never gave in and battled hard all game. I’m looking forward to this weeks game and another win I reckon!
We had a double draw and the winners of $100 each were Vesna O’Donnell (again!) and our Bridgewater oval barman David Spain (aka Beagle). Nice work.
