UPDATE FROM THE PRES
The U12s ventured out to Torrens Valley on Friday night and had a good win in cold conditions. Felix Koch-Reid was best player and kicked 3 goals.
On Saturday we had 3 games at Aztec Oval and one at Ironbank. The U18 Iron Raiders reversed the result from the week before with an excellent 6 goal victory over Birdwood. Darcy Campbell was best while Alec Hyndman kicked 5 goals!
Our undefeated U14s came up against a Meadows team with 13 permit players from town. They battled really hard but just fell short in the end. Well done guys.
Our B grade returned to the winners circle with a hard fought 3 goal win over Kangarilla. Jesse Ryan starred while skipper Will Miller in his canary long sleeved reverse jumper came off second best in a nasty collision (See photos). We hope you’re feeling better mate.
The form of our A grade was again a bit patchy but in the end they had a comfortable 50 point win. Congratulations to Zac Hean and Elliot Daniels who made their A grade debuts and both looked really comfortable with the faster pace. The highlight of the day though was the extremely rare sight of long time defender Ben O’Donnell kicking a goal. Go Benny O!
The women’s team had a trial game against Onkas and won by 11 points. The team is looking stronger than last year and we can’t wait for the season to start on 28 April.
On Sunday our AUSKICK centre continued with another great turn out on a beautiful sunny morning.
It’s official - we will be having a C grade team this year! This is due to the hard work of Sam Ryan, Rob Belsole and many others. The team will be co-coached by Raiders legends Rob Moller and Adrian Braddock. More info soon.
THURSDAY MEALS for PLAYERS
A big thank you to Catherine Houlahan for again volunteering to do Thursday night meals for the senior men after training (See photos). We have had good attendance from the lads and great meals! Good stuff.
A huge thank you to Jackie Marsh who has taken on the important role of Canteen Manager. Tania Huscroft is continuing to help out along with several others (See photo). Thank you all. We really appreciate it.
More baby Raiders with recently retired 200-gamer Daniel Fatchen and his partner Elise having a boy, Bodhi. Great stuff.
VIKING CLUB WINNERS
We have had 3 draws of the $100 weekly prize and the winners so far are Matt O’Donnell, Simon Bryars (no it wasn’t rigged!) and Andrew Wenk.
THIS WEEK'S GAMES
There are no games this week with the Easter long weekend so enjoy the week off everyone.
