UPDATE FROM THE PRES
What a difference a week makes in terms of weather!
The U12s played Torrens Valley at Mount Pleasant on a frosty Friday night. They got the job done by 3 goals with Cooper Borneman slotting another 3 goals (23 for the season now!) and Finn Trumball named best. Going into the break they sit comfortably in third place.
I have limited info on the moddies this week other than the U8s won and the U10s lost a close game to Echunga with best players being D Olthoff, E Huscroft and C Pannell-Blacklock.
We had three games out at Callington on a sunny but windy day.
The U14s had a good competitive game against Birdwood eventually winning by 21 points. John Philpott played his first game for the club and kicked a goal with his first kick! Great effort and welcome to the Raiders buddy!
The B grade had to work hard against Macclesfield and were down at quarter time. They then got going with the wind in the second quarter when Toby Patti almost took the mark of the century! Unfortunately Toby seriously injured his knee later on in the game and we wish him all the best with his recovery. The boys won by 32 points with Harry Garner kicking 4 goals and young Tommy Coverdale named best. Another solid win guys.
The A grade needed to redeem themselves after being easily beaten by Macclesfield last time they played. They started on fire when kicking with the wind in the first quarter and never looked back. It was a good team performance with ten different goal scorers including Shaun Steele with 5 goals who was also named best player. Let’s keep the momentum going after the break this week guys.
The women’s team had a tough challenge facing Nairne Bremer at Nairne and went down fighting hard against one of the top teams. Abbey Lancaster was named best in a team that is going great at the moment. Despite the loss they still sit Fourth on the ladder in a strong competition.
The C grade had their final game of the season at Aztec Oval against Uraidla Districts and went down in a good game. It was great to see Shaun McDonald back playing again and he even picked up best player! Good stuff.
A huge thanks to co-coaches Adrian Braddock and Bob Moller, team manager George Healey and trainer Jeremy Francis for running the C grade this year. Thanks also to everyone who played and supported the club. It wasn’t always easy getting a team together but the main thing was that everyone had an opportunity to get a kick and have fun.
VIKING CLUB WINNER
We did a double draw this week and the lucky winners were Andrew Wenk and Nev Golding!
